Suleman, the single, unemployed California woman who gave birth to octuplets on Jan. 26, has reportedly refused an offer for free housing and clothes for all 14 of her children. Why? Because Suleman, 33, wants to star in a reality TV show based around her kids. RadarOnline.com reports that Suleman has been pitched a book deal and reality show. That’s right, a reality show! If you don’t believe us, Suleman has already begun filming the reality show. Her first shots were staged of her walking into her new home and looking around for the first time. The images were captured amidst a slew of jouralists and paparazzi camped outside her new home. She apparently had to do three reshoots to make sure they were in the shots.
In February, L.A.-based non-profit group Angels In Waiting offered the IVF addict free temporary housing for six months and around-the-clock professional childcare for her octuplets and her six older children. But the group says Nadya rejected their offer, supposedly because the group would not agree to being part of her reality television show.
Well, it’s all changed now, and we might have Dr. Phil to thank for it. The unemployed mom apparently changed her mind after a recent meeting with lawyer Gloria Allred and ‘tough love guru’ Dr. Phil McGraw. The trio brokered a new deal that involves a new house Suleman is in the process of buying near the octuplets’ grandmother in Whittier, Calif. The 4-bedroom house, has three bathrooms, a large master bedroom with a walk-in closet and a large backyard. It’s in La Habra, Calif., a suburb of Los Angeles. The nonprofit says the help, which will be provided at no charge, would normally cost around $135,000 a month.
Reports say that her father Ed Doud was the one who purchased her new home for $564,900, with help from public donations. There’s no word yet on if the network who is filming Suleman’s crazy antics also chipped in for their new ‘set.’
There’s no word yet about which network is responsible for allowing us an inside look into raising 14 children, and the crazy antics of this Angelina Jolie wannabe, but it’s definitely not TLC. Despite rumors that octo-mom Nadya Suleman would probably end up the same network that features other “big” families – Jon & Kate Plus 8, and The Duggars: 18 Kids & Counting, you won’t tune in to see Suleman’s brood.
The president of TLC, Eileen O’Neill said she was considering the Suleman family for their own TV show, but after the story took such a negative turn, they’ve turned her down. “We certainly, like the rest of America, [are] waiting to see how this develops. The number of children or scale of the multiples is intriguing, but it also comes down to what are the family’s lives like?
On Tuesday, O’Neill told Us, “TLC is not pursuing any program at this time with Nadya Suleman. We wish the family well. TLC works with a number of outside production companies, and we believe a few of them have been in contact with Ms. Suleman’s rep, but we at TLC have not had direct contact with her,” O’Neill said at the time. “We are still watching this story evolve.”
