Anne Heche’s new little man has a big name to live up to. People and Us Weekly report the actress, 39, and her boyfriend, James Tupper, 43, welcomed Atlas Heche Tupper over the weekend.
If you’re a little rusty on your Greek mythology, Atlas literally carried the weight of the heavens on his shoulders. (You might recognize the statue in New York City.) Heche and Tupper’s future heavyweight — assuming Mother Nature doesn’t have a sense of humor — tipped the scales at 6 pounds, 12 ounces.
“They are ecstatic,” a rep says of the former “Men in Trees” co-stars.
This isn’t the first time Heche has picked a name rooted in classical mythology. She’s also mom to 7-year-old Homer, her son with newly minted ex-husband Coley Laffoon. “Homer is very excited to be a big brother,” an insider shares (no word on whether he exclaimed “d’oh!” over the name choice).
Heche and Laffoon, who split in January 2007, finalized their extended and epically bitter divorce earlier this week. They agreed to share custody of Homer, with Anne paying $3,700 a month in child support.
